Mayweather wants to KO Cotto

Mayweather and Cotto
Undefeated WBA Welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr says he will knockout the current WBA Junior Welterweight champion Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico on “Cinco de Mayo” (Saturday, May 5), Mayweather vs Cotto will collide at the MGM Grand Arena. Mayweather last fight was against Victor Ortiz which he suffered criticisms after he hit Ortiz with a sucker punch after the latter butted him in the fourth round of their fight.

Mayweather made it clear that he is no longer the defensive style fighter that he has always been. He said that his fighting style changed, especially since the fight vs Ortiz. When speaking about Cotto, Mayweather says that he feels he can knock him out. He said that when someone has been knocked out like Cotto has, that he believes it can happen again, and Mayweather plans to use this to his advantage. In fact, he is already training for this forthcoming fight because he
knows he has to work hard to develop the perfect game plan for this orthodox opponent with knockout power in both hands. Mayweather promise to be aggressive vs Cotto on their fight.

Miguel Cotto is coming off of a decisive victory over Antonio Margarito and just to be fighting Floyd Mayweather is an accomplishment for him, especially after having lost to Pacquiao so badly just a few years ago. Cotto has a better knockout percentage than Mayweather and his impressive performance in a rematch versus Margarito made him a much sellable fighter. Won his last three fights by stoppage, Cotto has a huge chance of pulling an upset against the 7-1 favorite Mayweather especially that the fight is at Miguel’s weight division.

Held at the 154-lb weight class, the Mayweather vs Cotto fight will be a very interesting bout because this is only the second time Mayweather climb the weight division.
