Roach Wants Chavez Jr. Sparring Partner of Pacquiao

The most awaited clash between Pacquiao vs Margarito will happen this November 13, 2010. Though there's no venue yet were the Pacquiao vs Margarito will happen. But Pacquiao's camp has already have a plan about the training of pound-for-pound king and current WBO welterweight champ Manny Pacquiao. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., the son of namesake and legendary Mexican boxer Cesar Sr., is likely to come to Manila and help “pound-for-pound king” Manny Pacquiao prepare against Antonio Margarito.

Top Rank’s Bob Arum said Chavez will join trainer Freddie Roach when the boxing coach flies to Manila to train Pacquiao for the November 13 fight. Freddie is also planning to take Chavez to train with Pacquiao,” Arum said. Chavez also agreed to be Pacquiao's sparring partner because it will added for his experience when training against Pacquiao. Chavez himself is preparing for the biggest fight of his career against erstwhile Pacquiao opponent Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico on December 4.

The 6-foot-1 Chavez, who holds the World Boxing Council (WBC) silver middleweight title, will help Pacquiao prepare against Margarito, who stands at 5-foot-11. Chavez, who has remained unbeaten in 43 fights, is the son of Mexican great and 6-time world champion Julio Cesar Chavez, Sr. Arum said that after training in Manila, Pacquiao will fly to the US a month before the fight and train at Roach’s Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles, California.

Chavez will be a great help as a sparring partner for Pacquiao to prepare against a big and another Mexican Margarito.

No Training in Congress

Pacquiao vs MargaritoSarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao said that he doesn't want to train inside the premises of the Congress. Pacquiao, who is set to face Mexico’s Antonio Margarito on November 13, said he will open his training camp somewhere near the House of Representatives so he can still work during his free hours from training. Pacquiao said during an interview that the gym that he will be going to is near the Batasan Complex… so it will be easy for him to go to Batasan after training. He also added he can’t train inside the complex because there's no boxing equipment there. The 7-division champion said they will keep their camp secret to allow him to focus on training. Pacquiao also said he will not reveal where he will train because his coach, Freddie Roach, doesn’t want too many people inside the training camp.

Pacquiao said he understands Belmonte’s reasons for dissuading him from using the Batasan Pambansa compound as training ground. "No problem. Like what I said, it's only time management. I will sleep here in the office so I can jog before a House session. The compound is spacious, anyway" Pacquiao said. Pacquiao, the only fighter to have 7 championship belts in as many weight classes, said part of his conditioning would encompass a 3-hour training session that includes jogging.

Pacquiao will fight Margarito for the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) junior middleweight belt. Talks for Pacquiao to fight undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. earlier fell through. Mayweather had accused Pacquiao of using performance-enhancing drugs, and publicly dared him to undergo blood tests if a showdown between them were to come about.

The Filipino champ agreed in May, but Mayweather failed to meet a July deadline to agree to terms of what could be the most lucrative fight in boxing history. So, hopefully the Pacquiao vs Margarito fight will pursue because this will be also a great boxing match this year.

Margarito Might Fall Pacquiao in Later Rounds?

Pacquiao vs MargaritoThe upcoming fight of Pacquiao vs Margarito this coming November 13, 2010 is spreading like a wild fire recently. Many boxing analysts give their predictions about the Pacquiao vs Margarito fight. And who do you think has the advantage between these two fighters? Manny Pacquiao has speed, quickness, aggressiveness, and power while Antonio Margarito is tall, strong, and aggressive and has power also. Some might say Pacquiao will win this fight and some say that Margarito has an edge because his tall and strong. Will its all depend what will happen to the fight on November 13. We can give predictions but still the fighters will still direct the play on how they will perform their fight. Robert Garcia trainer of Antonio Margarito believes that Margarito has all the tools to stop Manny Pacquiao in the later rounds when they clash for the vacant World Boxing Council super welterweight crown on Nov. 13.

He said that Antonio will have the heart and the power and the conditioning to be a great champion, and to beat anybody out there. But I think that he can get Pacquiao in the later rounds. So he’s going to say that Margarito will stop him in the later rounds. Roberto Garcia is a former International Boxing Federation super featherweight champion who also trains Filipino star Nonito Donaire Jr., said Margarito will begin his 10-week preparation in the first week of September.

Garcia said he’s been watching tapes of Pacquiao’s fights and is familiar with Freddie Roach’s training style. He said he has a good idea what strategy Pacquiao will use against Margarito. Though the super welterweight limit is 154 pounds, Garcia doesn’t mind if his fighter battled Pacquiao at a catch weight of 150. All Margarito need is to get his license back before he can fight Pacquiao. But the Top Rank head Bob Arum said if Margarito doesn’t get clearance to fight in Las Vegas or Texas, the Pacquiao fight may be held in Monterrey, Mexico, with Abu Dhabi another option.

Margarito’s license to fight in the United States was suspended for one year after he was found guilty of using hardened hand wraps on Jan. 24, 2009, when he yielded his WBA welterweight title to Shane Mosley. On the Camp of Pacquiao the Unbeaten Mexican WBC silver middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is receptive to the invitation offered him by Roach to be Pacquiao’s main sparring partner for the Margarito bout.

The WBC middleweight champ is very delightful of the offer and he said that he will take the offer to make a sparring partner of Pacquiao because it will be a big experience for him fighting the pound-for-pound king.
